Why ACE OPEN?
One particular aspect of ACE OPEN that we are extremely proud of is the teachers we are associated with in our program. Not only are they world class and successful professionals in their respective fields but also renowned teachers with years and years of teaching experience and vast theoretical and practical knowledge. Such teachers are not only attracted to be a part of the ACE OPEN fraternity, but also have succeeded in keeping the team excited about the future with decisive strategic initiatives. We have, slowly, but surely, succeeded in building a world-class curriculum.
We would like to establish ACE OPEN as a role model organization in the Music education space. This statement stems from a firm belief and is not merely a display of brash arrogance. It originates from the competence of our team and our earnestness & dedication towards music as an art.
At ACE OPEN, we are poised to take the Music education world by storm. We are getting ready to launch our on-line music program with the help of the most trusted teachers and academicians renowned in the field of Music.
Why Music?
"Music makes a valuable contribution to the total education of children especially in relation to academic performance, well-being, attitudes to school and perceptions of learning".
Many people underestimate music education in the schools today. However, music education is extremely important. Music also helps with math and science. Students learn to count, keep a steady rhythm, how to multiply and divide (to figure out how long each note is). They even learn a little bit of Algebra (the "dot" on the note is exactly half the value of that note. Students need to be able to figure out how much the "dot" equals in each case). Students also use science to help them discover what sounds good together and what doesn't. As they learn, they use prior knowledge to figure out what else might sound good together, which can lead to composing. Students also need science to understand something called the "overtone series," which Pythagoras came up with back around medieval times. This theory is how music is produced by vibration and why.
Students learn a lot about languages. Many choral songs are written in other languages including ancient ones. Students must learn to translate these works to understand what they are singing about. Some songs are famous literary poems or short works set to music; so students are exposed to that. Also, the markings in music (how fast, how loud, what style) are typically written in Italian. Students learn to understand a little bit of Italian in order to interpret the markings in their music.
Students learn an incredible amount of coordination through music - it isn't unlike being an athlete. Students must use fine and gross motor skills in order to play an instrument. Singers and wind players must learn breath control and be in good shape to play.
Students learn about art. Some very famous pieces were written about important pieces of art and students learn about the artists, pieces, and styles as they're playing the music.
Music education also brings higher thinking to our children. It allows them to think about complex patterns (where does my part fit into the whole? How can I make my part sound better? What are some tiny adjustments I can make to adjust tone or intonation? How does this music and these different parts fit together?). It almost leads to a philosophical environment. Students have to be absolutely aware of what every other musician does at every time. In that way, it fosters cooperation as well. No musician is independent of the whole, and yet each musician is a part of that whole, with a unique part and sound.
Students tend to foster close relationships with other musicians and with their music teachers. They tend to have a higher aptitude and sometimes capability for learning. Music teachers, because they don't worry so much about "state standards" or tests, can focus on what's really important: learning about music.
As one can see, music is very important in our lives. It is frequently underestimated and thought of as "easy" or "play time" but it's not that at all. Students frequently appear to be having fun while they are making music because music IS fun (though not easy). Music can portray any mood and it takes a special, interested person in order to make it good. Music is very important to education.
Why e-Learning?
Emergence of the Internet and secured delivery technologies have made it possible to accommodate on-line training cost-effectively and efficiently. E-learning can provide the following major benefits for music education:
Quality education, made affordable. Instructors of the highest caliber can share their knowledge across national and international borders which allows students to attend courses across physical, political, and economic boundaries.
Reduced cost of specialized education. Recognized experts have the opportunity of making information available internationally at minimum costs to anyone interested. This can drastically reduce the costs of higher and specialized education, making it much more affordable and accessible to the masses. An Internet connection, a computer, and a projector would allow an entire classroom in a developing country's University to benefit from the knowledge of an international expert.
Convenience and flexibility to students. E-learning is self-paced and the learning sessions are available around the clock. Students are not bound to a specific day/time to physically attend classes. They can also pause learning sessions at their convenience.
Reducing environmental impact. No travel is required for E-learning, thus reducing the overall carbon output. The fact that it takes place in a virtual environment also allows some reduction of paper usage. With virtual notes instead of paper notes and online assessments instead of paper assessments, E-learning is a more environmentally friendly solution.
Sanjay Chitale
For Sanjay, the love for Art and Music started the day he was born in a society that was both culturally rich and artistically passionate. Art was an important part of his everyday life. Music and Art were given the same importance as Math and Science. Pursuing Art for a living was a perfectly fine choice for a career. But destiny had different plans for him. Sanjay pursued an education in Information Technology which was far from artistic in nature. The distance grew even more when he became an entrepreneur.
For the next 20 years, he lived a life that was cluttered with hardware and software, numbers and graphs, dollars and cents, until he met Sonu Nigam. Unexpectedly, Music and Art became an integral part of his life all over again. In 2006, he sold all his investments and connected with himself. In 2009, ACE OPEN UNIVERSITY was born in his mind. In 2010, he started pursuing his passion for Art and Music again. This time, he was more prepared and excited about using the same hardware and software, dollars and cents since they are connected with Music and Art. ACE OPEN has no geographical boundaries - to become a part of it, all you need is love for Music and Art and the desire to learn.
Sanjay is the driving force behind the concept of delivering Music and Art worldwide over the Internet, to anyone and everyone. Sanjay is also a successful serial entrepreneur. He has a Masters degree in Computer Applications and has successfully sold two Information Technology ventures, two Media ventures and taken one back-office company public. But that is just a small part of his journey. The real journey has just begun.
